A Girl in the Society - Love or Marriage?

Life becomes a slice of compromise once the person you love decides to move on, stating that “He has to keep his family tradition”. You have not entered into this beautiful phase caring about societal norms, now, what has happened to all your promises once the question of marriage arises.
Why all your promises fade?
You didn't enter this relationship thinking once about the society before? Then why are you thinking now...

These are few questions that always arise in my mind when I look back 2 years of being in a relationship. Life was so rosy at that time, but things changed once Society and Parental ‘stupid’ norms pressurized us to think about our relationship. After continuously trying for 1 year to make them understand our point that only Kundali match is not necessary for a blissful life. It was an extremely tough stage for us. We were forced to understand that “This is not possible. Stop talking to each other.”

And some other bull shit about the society and ladki ki izzat! How can I stop talking to a person with whom I have shared my life? We cannot make the world understand this feeling...

We are living in a two faced society where we still haven't got the complete acceptance of Love marriage. Although our families pretend to be extremely open-minded, but their views change once their children express the desire to marry the person of their choice. Then then start giving excuses like “Humne bahut duniya dekhi hai. Yeh pyar vyar jyada din nahin tikta. Char logo ko pata chalega toh who hasege”

(P.S: Who are these ‘Chaar Log’?)

Most of the time our parents don’t understand our feelings and keep their family tradition on top without caring how their children will adjust with the new person in their lives. Why they ignore this fact very easily that it is not easy to make a new person their priority when somebody else has occupied it for a long time.

I think most of the people who are reading this will agree with the fact that still we are living in a dogmatic society where love is secondary to family tradition, where choosing a life partner your way raises many eyebrows on your upbringing, where the girls, particularly, are made responsible by the guy’s family to have lured them, where girls are termed as ‘Chalak’ and ‘Tez’ if she chooses her life partner and tells her parents about the decision.

I, (name undisclosed) on this medium would like the society to change their views. We are living

in 21st century where even a girl, whether independent or dependent, has a right to choose her life partner. She is mature enough to take the most important decision of her life, wisely.

So,
STOP INTERFERING IN HER LIFE AND SUPPORT AND UNDERSTAND HER DECISION. AFTER ALL, SHE ALSO HAVE A HEART.
