The First One
People always say the even if you and your first love aren't together, that 'First One' always holds a special place in your heart, a soft corner to be specific, which no one can ever take. No one can ever replace the first love in your life.I guess most of us agree with this statement.
But I have found a new species of women who after falling apart from their first love, after having another affair, after breaking their heart again goes back to their old love, to The First One...
Let me tell you story of my friend.
A friend of mine, let's call her Alka, broke up with her first love (let's call him Dev) because he never use to meet up, or call up or even message her. You might call this kind of behavior weird in this era of technology, but yes this is a true story.
They were high-school sweethearts and while being in school they never use to go out for dates and didn't had any cellphone to stay in touch 24x7. They use to call each other from land-line. After passing out of school and joining college, Alka expected Dev to meet her more or talk to her more often. But this guy never got out of his school hangover. He use to send her a 'Good Morning' once in a blue moon. One day, after months of planning, they decided to meet in the evening. Alka reached the place on time and kept on calling him for a while, but he didn't pick up her call. When he came after making her wait for a long time, he came along with a friend and said that he will stay only for 5 minutes and will leave with his friend. Alka got pissed off completely and went back home angry, without saying anything. The best part is, he never realized his mistake and apologized to her.
After two months of this instance, she started taking interest in a guy she met on Orkut (Yes, this story happened a long time back when there was no craze of Facebook). They started chatting, then talking, they met and she fell for this guy's attention and care. Well, who wouldn't? Dev called her up after so many months and she told him about her current love interest. He said "I thought you will call me up yourself." Such and answer pissed her off too much and she thought that it was for better that she broke off with him.
After being in a blissful 3 months of relationship, the new guy suddenly stopped talking to her and turned into "Leave me alone, stop texting me, stop calling me" guy. Firstly, he said that his family is looking for a girl for him to marry and since there was huge difference between the two of them, they cannot get married. She was 20 and he was 27 (as per to him). She tried to talk to him. but all in vain. After nine months of wait, pain, frustration, anger...he agreed to meet her and give clarifications for his behavior. He told her that his real age was 35 (which was apparently visible to all of us but not to her) and he was with her just for fun and had no intention of being serious for her. Within this period of 9 months, he dated many other girls and dumped them the way he had dumped my friend.
She was completely shattered. She needed support which was given to her by her first love Dev. He met her, talked to her and made her feel better about herself. He went abroad for higher studies and to my amazement he calls her up everyday!
But the question is- Why did he realized her value only when she broke-up with him and started seeing some other guy?
I've heard people say that, "Never go back to your past lover even if the bond you feel is stronger. Because it's like reading the same book again and you already know the ending."
But what made her go back to the same person who use to piss her off a lot and whom she considered devoid of feelings called love, care, attention?
Was she scared of another heartbreak that she might face by trusting someone else?
Or was she sure that he'll change for her?
If they could make this relationship work this time, why couldn't they make it work the first time itself?
Or they were always meant to be together?
A lot of question are unanswered...
And I am thinking about my first love...distant but always close to my heart...

Loved it...
